Counselling and therapy Tunbridge Wells

Noel Bell, UKCP Psychotherapist

Noel Bell is a fully qualified and UKCP accredited psychotherapist and clinical supervisor offering short and long term individual and couples counselling and psychotherapy sessions in a central location in Tunbridge Wells, close to the train station and various car parking locations. I also offer online video consultations, if you prefer.

I can help with a wide range of issues and have extensive experience of helping people with recovery from addictions, occupational stress, bereavement and grief, relationship complexities, anxiety management, dysfunctional family dynamics, depressive symptoms and the effects of emotional trauma. I view my role as initially being an active listener to get a sense of how best I can help each person I see. The work will be collaborative. I will not adapt the so-called “expert” role and will not offer speculative presumptions from what I hear. I will seek to empower you with new insights, greater clarity and restored confidence to help you deal with whatever is troubling you.

I practice in an integrative way, which means that I don’t adhere to a particular modality and can draw upon a broad spectrum of psychotherapeutic knowledge, tools and techniques to suit each unique individual that I see. I have had lots of therapy myself, and it was also a requirement to undertake therapy every week during my 4 years of professional training, so my own experience of seeing therapists informs my professional approach in how I work.

People often ask how long will therapy last. My answer is to have the first session, and if you are feeling comfortable about proceeding with me, to commit to at least 6 sessions. This will give us both an idea of what we are dealing with and more likely outcomes and timelines. Some people approach me asking initially for a small number of sessions to tackle a certain issue in their life and end up staying for a longer time as new layers of the onion, so to speak, unravel. Others approach me for long term work but end up failing to commit to the six agreed sessions. The key is to find an approach that works for you.

I undertake a thorough assessment at our first session and will seek to devise an appropriate solution focused way of working. If I don’t think I am the best fit for you I will tell you and will help refer you to someone more suitable. I adhere to the UKCP Ethical Framework, have a commitment to ongoing professional development and attend regular clinical supervision sessions to stay abreast of challenges in my practice.

I would be happy to discuss any questions you might have before making an appointment. Just call me on my mobile number and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Call 07852407140 for more details.
