I have now completed the witness service training for a Victim Support placement. It comprised 6 full days and I feel pretty exhausted. It was interesting to note the changing group dynamics as the course progressed from day to day and as participants began to get to know each other a little better. I began to imagine what being in the Big Brother house might feel like. I must say the sessions on diversity awareness produced the most tense of exchanges. There was some insightful debate on essentialism in the whole question of racial, gender and cultural stereo typing and what were social constructs. We had law, physics and psychology graduates in the group and quite a few setting out to be barristers so exchanges were lively.
One interesting fact that emerged from the course:
Satellite dishes in London face towards Mecca.
